“Online Storage”
1. What is online storage?
A file hosting service, online file storage service, or online media center is an Internet hosting service specifically designed to host static content, typically large files that are not web pages. Typically they allow web and FTP access. They can be optimized for serving many users (as is implied by the term "hosting") or be optimized for single-user storage (as is implied by the term "storage"). Related services are video sharing, virtual storage and remote backup. You can upload file from 1 byte up to 5 gigabytes to unlimited storage (depend on your chosen provider).
2. Why online storage is better than saving data in pen drives?
When some time you forget your pen drives or you external hard disk or even your laptop and you are a long, long way from home and you really need those documents, this is where online sharing comes handy. You can download those files anywhere as long as internet connection is available. You can also share your files with other people. Just let them know where you store your files and they can download those files anywhere on earth!
3. There are many notable online sharing or hosting for free. www.mozy.com, www.fileqube.com, www.badongo.com, www.dropbox.com and many more. But one of my favourite is www.4shared.com. To upload your files to this website, you have to create your account. No personal detail needed here, just your valid e-mail address and password. And you can start from there.
4. For more tutorials, go to this website http://www.4shared.com/tutorial/ or video tutorial at www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFqpGXmtsKg. It will guide you step by step from creating your account to uploading your files and documents.
5. For materials from the Panitia, you can simply download the materials i.e. Bulletins, Yearly Scheme of Work etc. at http://englishpanitia.blogspot.com. The Panitia used the online storing to store and share the bulletins online.
